Seniors Invited to Thanksgiving Dinner at Freeburg District 70
Senior citizens living in the Freeburg school district are invited to attend a free Thanksgiving Dinner on Friday, November 21, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Freeburg Elementary School.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal will be prepared by the kitchen staff and will be served in the cafeteria of the main building. Guests are invited to go through the lunch line and eat at specially-decorated tables. Upper grade students will be at the school to meet and seat all guests. "This will be a great opportunity for our district's senior citizens to visit our school", said District 70 Superintendent Tomi Diefenbach. "Seniors will have the opportunity to share fellowship and the blessings of Thanksgiving with the students".
The menu for the dinner includes roast turkey or Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, applesauce, rolls, dessert, and a drink. For guests who would rather not have roast turkey or Salisbury steak, a salad bar is also available.
The meal is free, but reservations are required to ensure adequate seating and food. Reservations should be made by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, by contacting Secretary Brenda Stein at 539-3188 ext. 211.
The school is also offering free transportation to and from the dinner for seniors who need a ride. If you need transportation, please provide your address and a phone number when making reservations so the school may call you back once a pick-up time is finalized.
