A scholar bowl match consists of 20 toss-up questions, worth ten points each, and subsequent bonus questions, which may have three, four, or five parts and are worth a total of 20 points each. Both teams use a buzzer system that allows participating players the opportunity to be the first to "buzz in" when attempting to answer questions correctly.
