Inclement Weather

There are procedures in place to close Freeburg CCSD #70  due to inclement weather.  This decision will be based on ensuring every student arrives to and leaves from school safely regardless of the mode of transportation.  Every effort will be made to make the decision as early as possible.

TeacherEase will be used to send emails, Teacherease APP notificationcs, text messages, and voice messages to let each family know of the cancellation of school.  The caller ID displayed should be (844) 471-2228 named Freeburg CCSD 70 / Freeburg Primary / FreeburgElemntry depending on how the message is sent.

When sending text and voice messages, Teacherease uses an algorithm to stop the notification as soon as the recipient interacts with one of the messages. For instance, if the recipient receives an email with an app notification and does not open either, then SchoolInsight will send a text message. Likewise, if they do not click on the link to read the body of the message, a phone call with a voice message will be sent out. On the other hand, if they have read and interacted with the text message, they would not also receive a phone call.

Please do not call the school or administrators' home numbers for school closing information.  We want to ensure phone lines remain open to coordinate the decision-making process and/or emergency communications.  The best way to receive information is tuning into the radio and television stations noted above or checking our facebook page.

This should help parents change how and where messages are received from the school.  When parents use their mobile device or email system to block messages from SchoolInsight, it becomes impossible for us to contact them, even in an emergency. If they use the parent portal communication preferences, those channels remain available.

 You need to do a small amount of setup to receive these messages.  Login to TeacherEase and click “Communication Preferences.”  You can choose whether to receive emails, mobile app notifications, text messages, and/or voice calls.

 We support two types of announcements: “school closure” and “other information,” choose how you’d like to receive these messages:

• Everyone can choose email.  

• If you’ve installed the TeacherEase mobile app, you can choose app notifications

• If your mobile phone number is in the system, you can choose to receive texts and voice calls.

 If your phone number(s) are NOT listed, they are likely not in the system.  Feel free to contact the school/district and provide them with updated information.
